Shane was my functional line manager when I first started my apprenticeship and for many years thereafter. He was an integral part of arranging the content of my training programme and ensuring the supplementary education was appropriate. I feel that due to the efforts of Shane and a few others that I have truly benefited from the best on the job training I could have hoped for but that I also have the theoretical background and qualifications to back up my experience. On a personal level Shane is approachable, easy to talk to and it has always genuinely felt like he cares about every individual.

Like many, I owe Shane a debt of gratitude for his role in kick starting the first Project Controls apprenticeship back in 2007 (and for his continued support since). Aside from his obvious knowledge, it is Shanes infectious enthusiasm and selflessness for developing people, as well as growing the Project Controls profession generally, that is perhaps his biggest strength. It is unsurprising to see the many people that Shane has developed go on to hold senior Project Control roles within major businesses. As such, I cannot think, or recommend, anyone better placed to go to for project management and controls training.

Shane was my head of function, and was a integral part of developing and growing the project controls capability for the business which included the development of the apprenticeship and graduate schemes. I  have known Shane for my entire working career and I would certainly not be where I am today without his help and guidance. Not only was Shane instrumental in dealing with the increasing skill shortage by getting the first Project Controls Apprenticeships up and running then going on to train and guide many apprentices. He has also helped various companies improve Project Controls through better understanding of the value of the function but more importantly implementing needed improvements. I have worked with Shane on a number of Project Controls and Project Management improvement processes such as Operational Excellence and SPMM at AMEC but also in the implementation of an Integrated Project Delivery Solutions (IPDS) at Costain. As well as helping other businesses such as Horizon Nuclear with consultancy support to help develop their Project Management Offices. Shane is passionate about training, development and improving the industry as a whole

I cannot recommend Shane highly enough. Going back to the initial setting up of the project controls apprenticeship along with other business directors which got me in to the industry initially and without which I would likely not be in the role I am currently in. Shane’s ongoing guidance and support throughout has continued not only in my early but through my continuous career. Shane has a wealth of knowledge which he is happy to pass on to younger generations to improve the industry pool. He has helped me ten fold and would be an asset to any business due to his commitment and ongoing motivation for improvement.
